It’s likely if you’ve been through the downsizing process that you’ll have got rid of a lot of ‘stuff’ and held onto only the really precious things or those which you love.

Perhaps you now need somewhere to house and display these curated treasures, and this week I’ve rounded up some great options for you. Not only will they allow you to display your memories and special things in one spot, you won’t have to dust them half as often!
Here are a few display cabinet styling tips to get you started:
1. Group things that have something in common, like ceramics, glass, items of the same colour or travel souvenirs.
2. Use book stacks to add height and to ‘ground’ a collection of small items.
3. Play around with items of different heights for visual interest.
4. Group items in odd numbers, like threes or fives.
5. Make sure to consider leaving some empty space too, for balance, and to avoid things looking too cluttered or squashed together.
Entry level: IKEA MILSBO glass-door cabinet
This IKEA piece, available in black or white, is a bestseller with good reason. You can’t beat it when it comes to value and it has a lot of clever little design features. The glass shelves are adjustable so you can customise your storage as needed, the lock allows you to store your things in a secure way, and you can easily complete your cabinet with integrated lighting thanks to the cable outlet at the top. The glass shelves allow light to spread throughout the entire cabinet.

Mid range: Early Settler Clover large 2-door display cabinet
A solid and more traditional, Hamptons-inspired design, this timber option is crafted from pine with a warm white frame and distressed natural timber trim. It has ample storage for your vases, photos and other precious pieces behind its glass doors.
Price: $1299.00 (discounted to $899.00 when you buy 2 or more items)
Luxe: Mustard’s The Collector
Brand new from colourful metal locker brand Mustard, is The Collector, a beautiful piece of furniture with fluted glass doors, available in 12 amazing colours. There’s something about the aesthetic which is both retro and modern, meaning one of these will work in just about every home. I love that the fluted glass is opaque so everything doesn’t have to be perfectly organised and styled, but it can be if you’re that way inclined! It reminds me of one of those cabinets a favourite aunt might have had, full of special things kept under lock and key (these are also lockable). The biggest question is which colour to choose, from the more neutral chalk and slate, to a bold pop of colour with poppy or mustard, to the feminine pastel tones of lilac or blush. Why stop at one?!
